Our History

Kit Loong Golden History and timeline:

1931: Kit Loong founder, Teh Kim Hye, started a modest tyre shop in Batu Road, Kuala Lumpur.

1959: We opened our first retread factory and were appointed Michelin’s sole distributor in Malaysia.

2002: Total business operation redefined: Kit Loong decided passenger car and commercial tyre businesses would split to focus on specialising in each area.

2009: Kit Loong Commercial Tyre (KLCT) was born to focus solely on fleet operations.

2010: SC3 and Sigma 5 were introduced, our guiding principles for Total Tyre Management.

2012: First commercial tyre company in Malaysia to receive SGS ISO certification.

2018: KLConnect, our Total Tyre Management software tool launched to market.

2020: First Asian retread manufacturer to achieve E-mark status for their tyres.

2021: Kit Loong e-commerce platform and first breakdown app were launched.

With a history that stretches back to humble beginnings in 1931, when our founder, Teh Kim Hye, started a modest tyre shop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kit Loong Commercial Tyre is now one of the most innovative pioneers of fleet-tyre management.
